Description and Review: It seems to be some kind of contractual obligation that every slots developer must have their very own Ancient Egypt themed slot. Either that or they are all looking to piggy-back on the success of Novomatic’s Book of Ra slot.

Anyway, so it is with 2 By 2 Gaming’s Secrets of the Tomb – a 30 line slot. You’ve got the Sphinx, Eye of Horus, Anubis, Pyramids and Tombs among the symbols. You’ve also got Q, J, 10, etc. which is pretty dull. Ancient Egypt is a rich source of ideas for a slot game, so there’s no real excuse for those old-fashioned ‘card’ type symbols.

Now, honestly, I don’t really know what to say about Secrets of the Tombs. Well, that’s not strictly true. It’s more that I don’t know what to say that is in any way positive about this slot. We do try to write objective and even-handed reviews, but sometimes words fail us.

Firstly, the reels spin so slowly on this one that it makes the game very difficult to enjoy – there’s just too much sitting around staring at spinning reels to make it a pleasurable experience.

Secondly, the wins (both in the base game and the bonus) are terrible. We ended up increasing our total bet size to $7.50 so that they didn’t look so paltry. When you’ve got multiple wins from one spin that include 4 of a kind and the payout is less than the bet size, you know you are playing a slot game you should walk, even run, away from.

The free spins round didn’t pay out much better even with a 2x multiplier on the wins.

Now, this may sound like we were just unfortunate and had a bad run on Secrets of the Tomb. Well, that is possible. So all three of us at Slots Universe.net played for several hours each over two separate days and no-one saw even the sniff of a decent win.

Try out the free play demo and see for yourselves but Secrets of the Tombs is one of the worst slots we’ve played all year.

Disagree? Then we strongly encourage you to register now and leave a comment – we’d love to hear from you.
