Description and Review: After the mess that was WhoSpunIt, it’s reassuring to see Betsoft Gaming back on solid ground with Greedy Goblins.
Here those avaricious Goblins are in battle with their rivals, the cute Elves and are trying to steal those all-important Elvish secrets.
As is usual with a Betsoft game, they have really gone to town on the look of the slot. There’s plenty to catch the eye. Some players might actually find it a little too much and – being truthfully – the game can be a bit laggy.
Personally, though, myself and the Slots Universe.net team love that the creators really go to town on developing the theme.
Greedy Goblins is a 30 reel game that can be played from 0.02 to 0.50 per line. So, not one for the really high roller.
Again, as with a lot of BetSoft slots, there are plenty of features and bonus rounds to keep interest high.
In the base game, you have a Sticky wild symbol – the Treehouse. This hits with pleasing regularity. The Treehouse can appear on any reel. When it does you get up to 3 free spins, with the Treehouse expanding to fill the reel as a wild symbol. The wins aren’t massive, but it’s a very nice touch.
Secondly, there’s the ‘Golden Coin Drop’ feature. This uses the cascading reels idea that has become so popular. If two or more golden coins appear on the reels, then crazy Goblins will rush out and collect them. New symbols will drop into place, which could create new wins. This continues until there are no more winning combinations.
We hit quite lucky with this a few times, getting 4 Golden Coins and triggering and re-triggering new wins 3 times in a row. Again, though, the win sizes weren’t massive.
Actually, it seems churlish to criticise the win sizes on Greedy Goblins as this is one of BetSoft’s few slots that really has decent jackpot sizes.
The maximum win is 1,200,000 coins and there’s a progressive jackpot too. It was around $17,500 when we were playing this yesterday but I think someone must have won it. Today, when I’ve been fact-checking the review it’s down to $6,500. Still, it’s nice to see someone actually winning one of these things.
Oh yes, and the ‘Double Up’ option is there – but you can only double up on regular wins. Not bonuses, Golden Coins, sticky wild wins or anything else.
I think you’re probably getting the picture by now: there is a lot going on with this slot machine.
There are also two bonus rounds.
One is a free spins (from 10 to 25) with some wins having additional multipliers – up to 10x. The best thing about this (the Elfania round, if you really must) is that just triggering it gives a nice win. Particularly if you get 5 of a kind: when you’ll end up with a 50x total bet prize!
Are you keeping up?
The other feature is triggered by the Book of Secrets symbol. This one is more fun than profit. You see the Goblins break into Elf HQ. Click on plans, filing cabinet draws to reveal your prizes.
Greedy Goblins is one of those slots that will keep your interest over long sessions. So, you won’t notice that your cash is diminishing. It’s still a low variance slot – like so many of their others – but this one offers the chance of some serious cash. Greedy Goblins is a good one.
