Description and Review: Red Flag Fleet is a 192 line slot that will remind you of Williams ever popular Zeus III.
Like Zeus 3, you’ve got the possibility of six of a kinds and plenty of chances to get so many multiple wins simultaneously it makes the reels look like a particularly complex maze.
In many ways, Red Flag Fleet is a clone, but there’s some important differences that make the game different from Zeus III and, therefore, worth playing in its own right.
Firstly, and possibly most importantly, the payouts are slightly higher (around 20% bigger) in Red Flag Fleet for the top two paying symbols.
Secondly, while there are more free spins on offer by default in Zeus 3, two or three reels turn completely wild on every spin during this round, which leads to better overall wins.
The final point is that Red Flag Fleet just looks better. The graphics are sharper and better designed and the theme is totally original. It is based around the feats of a legendary female pirate captain from Imperial China, Ching Shih who commanded no less than 300 ships. But, of course, you all knew this already, right and didn’t just look up ‘Red Flag Fleet’ in Wikipedia like, well, er, I just did?
Like Zeus 3, the unusual reel set up takes a little bit of getting used to. The trick is to pay attention to the first reel (of two symbols) and then hope to see lots of these or lots of wilds (the Red Flag Fleet logo) on the other reels. While no individual winning line is worth a lot, this slot is all about getting lots of multiple line wins off a single spin.
It’s definitely an exciting and compelling way of producing a slot and we like it a lot. The fact that you can play from just 0.40 up to a frankly dizzying 80.00 per spin shows that this one has a very broad appeal.
The biggest win we got off the base game was a Super Mega Win of 334.40 (from a 2.00 spin) – a very impressive 172x bet size). This was quickly followed by a win of 41.40 and one of 76.60.
Of course, this being a WMS game, you’re expecting great things from the free spins round. Red Flag delivers here too, although 5 free spins for three scatters is a little on the low side.
It took 224 spins to get the bonus first time around, so we would have liked more than 5 free spins, but the random wild reels (there’s at least 2 on each spin) did more than compensate.
Unfortunately for the purposes of this review, we never got the 40 free spins with the huge 50x stake size initial award you could get from 5 scatters, but can imagine that you’ll think it’s Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah and your birthday all rolled into one.
Red Flag Fleet is another strong offering from Williams, cleverly designed to cater for low rollers wanting ‘one big hit’ and high rollers alike. It’s a winner with monster win potential. Good job.
