Description and Review: With this follow up to IGT’s Siberian Storm slot the action has moved to Sumatra. Like it’s predecessor, Sumatran Storm is a 720 win line slot with IGT’s Multiway Xtra Feature.
Frankly, there are a lot of similarities between the two games but let’s concentrate on the differences for now. Unfortunately, pretty much all of them are negative!
Instead of playing 50 coins as you do on Siberian Storm; on Sumatran Storm, you are playing 60 coins so now it’s even more expensive to play. If I recall correctly, the original wasn’t exactly designed for the low-roller. Additionally, the number of free spins has reduced from 8 to 5.
This means that the maximum number of free spins (if you re-trigger a few times) in Sumatran Storm is 150, whereas the original has a maximum of 240.
The only positive change I can see is that a couple of the symbols in the base game of Sumatran Storm pay out 5 extra coins for 3 of a kind. That’s it.
This is a real shame as we loved Siberian Storm and were hoping for big things from the second in this series. It just doesn’t deliver. There is literally no reason to play Sumatran Storm when the original is a better paying slot.
A real disappointment from IGT. If you are a high roller looking for a high variance machine with big potential payback, then Siberian Storm is the game for you – not this weak sequel.
