Description and Review: Gold Slam is a complete departure from the usual 3D video slots that Sheriff Gaming are renowned for. Instead, we’ve got an Old Skool classic fruit machine.

For the team here at Slots, this really takes us back to our mis-spent youth.

The super-retro theme, colour scheme and the use of Bars, 7s and fruits brings back memories among certain members of our team of standing in Fish N’ Chip shops at the age of 13, trying to get that ?10 maximum prize. And yes, this was (and probably still is) legal in the UK!.

Anyway, on to the game itself. We certainly can’t claim that Gold Slam is the most innovative, imaginative or cool-est slot we’ve ever played.

We also can’t claim that the big wins are big enough to make it worthy of investing a large chunk of your bankroll.

Nevertheless – for nostalgia reasons if nothing else – we thoroughly enjoyed playing it.

There’s some decent features, too. You can double your wins up to ten times by using the ‘Star’ or ‘1’ buttons whenever you get a winning combination. We had great success with this. It’s just a matter of trying to hit the button at exactly the right time.

While there is no bonus or free spins round, there is a Wild Nudge feature on reel 3 and some decent prizes if you hit a win with the Gold 7s symbols.

We’re certainly not saying this slot will be you’re all-time favourite or even that it’s going to produce those ever-elusive life changing wins. What we are saying is that Gold Slam is an entertaining, retro-style classic slot.

Strangely, the paytable mentions that the payout is -1%. I guess this means that the RTP is actually 99%. We certainly had some very long sessions and no slot with a 99% return to player is to be ignored.
